Dear FETA Members,
The trails are calling us!
After a winter of ice, snow, wind, and rain, it's time for spring cleaning.
Our last group effort was post Hurricane Helene. But at one time, members routinely met about twice a year to clear the trails of fallen branches, twigs, vines, etc.
When
Our plan is to meet on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
(Rain Date: Sunday, March 15, 2026)
Where
Parking is at 1130 Bent Oak Drive, Columbus, NC.
This is in the Stoneybrook neighborhood, near the big red house that sits on the hill above Two Ponds.
What to bring
gloves, clippers, loppers, bag lunch, water.
We won't be doing heavy clearing, so no need for chain saws at this time.
How to Sign Up
Please email or text Tara Boyce if you plan to come, or if you have any questions.
Land owners Gail Rubini (Smaland Farm) and Stoneybrook, and Larry Wassong (Fairfield Farm) hosting Pretty Bottom Trails, will be working with us.
They will also share the interesting histories of their properties and the surrounding area.
We plan to start on the Stoneybrook trails, and if time allows, move onto the network of trails (known by many as the "Spaghetti Bowl") that branches off of Pretty Bottom.
This will be a day for needed trail housekeeping, as well as an opportunity to meet valued landowners, learn some trail history, and meet other FETA members. And, undoubtedly, we'll learn some new trails to incorporate into our riding routes.
We look forward to a good turnout!
Many thanks,
Your FETA Trail Committee
